Enveloped in Love
by William Johnston
THERE IS A CHRISTIAN CONTEMPLATIVE prayer of just being. One simply sits in the presence of God, aware that one is enveloped in this immense love which fills the universe. No words are necessary. No thinking is necessary. In this contemplative prayer my being becomes being-in-love.
Now we will establish peace not only by doing but also, and more importantly, by being. If more and more people can be in the presence of God, if more and more people can let their consciousness expand lovingly to all men and women, to the whole environment and to the limitless universe -- if we can experience the enormous power of being-in-love then we will be on the royal road to peace.
